It´s the advantage of being in business.
Your Aro 243,1999, is beautiful and seems very well preserved. Maybe it needs some mechanics care.
Imagine that you had a 30 years old portuguese Aro, dahiatsu engine, without spare parts, to do a restauration work, like me...

Thank you! And please tell me, what is actually the difference? Many ARO fans in Czech rep. is confused if they have 240 or 243. Personally I reckognize it regarding factory specification this way:

240 = no power steering, 16' wheels, headlights without cover, mostly softtop (but not always)
243 = Olcit taillights, 15' wheels, Oltic taillights, always hardtop, (I guess years 2000 to 2006 cars)

But it is highly probable, that I em mistaken This is my own little help to reckognize it at least always the same way

Ramiro: thank you. Regarding the price, it is quite cheap in Czech Republic, but each mont you can find at least one or two cars about 600 EUR at the Internet. Then it depends how fast you are But there is not so much opportunities to buy nice and cheap car as it used to be. Before one month, some guy called me, that he purchased ARO 240, L25, with the caravan platform on it. I will try to find some pictures. It was for 750 EUR, this caravan platform was done in times of deep communism for some factory director, so it can be considered for original. Good price too, and very rare and exotic ARO.

If that Portaro you describe is yours, you have my respect! I guess you have to love the car if you are willing to spend the time with its restoration, because there sure are many other interesting vehicles, Spains used to manufacture some Jeep copies I think, didn't they? I can give you contact to some guy named Antonio Trovao, who requested some parts for his Portaro in Portugal. Transport was too expensive, so we did not sent him anything, but perhaps he gave up and his Aro will be good for parts today. It is 2 or 3 years ago. He requested following:

- Front panel
- Tablier (DahsBoard) with instruments.
- 2 Front doors ( left and right ) complete.
- 2 Buffer for the front bumper.
- 1 Brake cable

From this my estimation is, that the car is rusty as hell

I think I will never understand that exhaust, but I like rear doors. It can not be seen from picture, but these rear doors are made of wood. There is very nice carpenters work done - wooden frame, covered with metal pate from outside. From inside there is thin wood plate, plus of course Yale lock probably from owners garage doors

In fact, the portuguese Aro is relatively rare, unlike what happens in Romania and Czech Republic, and has some unique diferent characteristics from the original Aro.

Last year there was an exhibition about cars built in Portugal, where two portaros were represented, and is common to see them in magazines about classic cars and even, in special ocassion, on TV.

Portaros from 1979, or 1981, in reasonable condition, like mine, is hard to find.

Picture when I was buying my ex red 243. Me and my coleague we went there with ARO 328 with Andoria EURO2, 270 thousand kilometers, but still running good. We bought also white 243, which had some problem with gearbox. Luckily problem was not very big and my coleague sold this car to Slovakia, after he used it for vacation at winter.



This is the white one when the guy from Slovakia took it. Nice car.

Hello again. Today I have a picture of Bucegi powered M461, which is for sale for about 3000 EUR. In my opinion nothing interesting, but it is essentially Romanian beast









I wondered what about Bucegi and Karpat trucks in Romania? Aren't these rare already?

The Bucegi powered M461 is not also my type, in spite of being powerfull indeed.
But I should say that the Director of Auto Max is very lucky...
