Comuna Bistra ofera un cadru ideal pentru recreere prin drumetii offroad. Sa strabati cararile montane sau drumurile forestiere spre satele raspandite pe pantele muntelui, prin padurile de fagi sau de conifere, respirand aerul proaspat, ce poate fi mai reconfortant?
Din Bistra urca numeroase poteci turistice si drumuri forestiere spre Varful Bolomireasa (1.632 m), un veritabil punct de belvedere asupra intregii zone. Tot din Bistra se poate ajunge si pe Varful Muntele Mare (1.826 m), fie prin valea Devei (zona din fotografii) si apoi peste Varful Prislop (1.729 m), fie pe Valea Mare, trecand prin Tomnatecu.
Urmand valea Bistrei, pe un drum forestier, se poate ajunge la rezervatia botanica “Molhasurile Capataniiâ€
